We protect your data like it was our own. All data is encrypted twice using the industry-standard AES cipher and a pass phrase you provide. Because your pass phrase is never sent to BitBacker, no one can access your data - not even a BitBacker employee with physical access to the servers.
Unlike USB hard drives and DVD backups, BitBacker backs your data up remotely, so it protects you against fires, floods, and other catastrophic events. BitBacker also remembers your previous backups, so you can go back in time to retrieve an older version of any file.
Speed is a critical factor when backing up over the Internet. To be as fast as possible, BitBacker only sends data that has changed since the last backup, and it will never send duplicate data. Even if you make 100 copies of a file, it will only be uploaded once.
In the past, BitBacker's founders have backed data up with tape drives, CDs, DVDs, external hard drives, internal hard drives, and Internet-based systems. We've found all of these frustrating or inadequate in their own ways, so we built BitBacker to be the backup system we want to use. That means it's fast, cheap, and requires no administration - you set it up once, and it just works.
